According to statistics, blockage is the most common problem of any SMA. If such a malfunction happens often, then it is inconvenient to call the master every time, and even more so - to transport the washer to the service. You can also figure out on your own what to do if the hose in the washing machine is clogged.
It is a mistake to assume that to clean the hose, it is enough to simply rinse it. First you need to understand where it is and how to remove it correctly so as not to damage it. Nevertheless, eliminating the blockage is an easy task, and about all its stages - below.
Washer clog: what is it
Consider some of the reasons why blockage in the drain may occur:
- Accumulation of foreign objects and debris in the filter.
- Failure of the drain pipe between the tank and the pump.
- Pump expired.
- Damage to the integrity of the hose - cracks, holes.
- Objects caught in the sewer led to the blockage.
Hose disconnect
Before you begin to remove the hose, first unplug the power cord from the power outlet, close the valve to block the water supply. After this, be sure to drain the remaining water through the drain filter.
If you purchased a model machine Samsung, LV, Ariston, Virpul, Indesit, Kandy, Ardo or Beco, then you will have to perform all the actions through the bottom after removing the bottom panel:
- Remove the bolts holding the filter.
- Try tipping the washer on its side.
- To remove the hose from the drain pump, unclip the clamps. This is where pliers come in handy.
- The hose is in your hands.
Important! If your model has a pallet, remove it to provide access to parts.
If you have a Zanussi or Electrolux brand washer, you need to remove the back cover and perform the following steps:
- Release the latches holding the panel.
- Disconnect the drain hose from the valve.
- Remove the back cover.
- Unclench a collar on a hose and remove it.
These actions helped us come to the main question - how to clean the drain in the washing machine.
Hose cleaning
After removing the item, inspect it and make sure that it is not damaged anywhere. You will need a thin cable with a small brush on the end - it perfectly cleans soapy deposits. For a neat and efficient cleaning, we suggest you take the following tips:
- Perform linear movements with the cable, returning it from time to time. The process is similar to cleaning the sewer pipe from clogging.
- Rinse the drainage hose for the washing machine under running water.
- Replace.
- Reassemble the washer, replacing all the parts.
To consolidate the result, pour 100 g of citric acid into the powder receiver, set the temperature to 60 degrees and turn on the “idle” mode.
Prevention
There are natural and mechanical types of blockage. They lead to the need for self-cleaning the drain hose.
Natural clogging occurs if garbage has accumulated in the drainage system: hair, pile, thread, animal hair. All these particles get into the washer from clothes during the washing process.
Important! Natural blockage occurs less frequently in the machine than mechanical.
Mechanical blockage is possible if small objects get into the filter system of the washer, this leads to mechanical blockage. Instead of thinking about how to clean the drain hose in the washing machine, carefully check the pockets before washing.
Take serious measures with each wash:
- Remove any little things from your pockets. If there is no time to sew buttons that hang “in the balance”, cover them with sewing tape.
- Wash clothes in a special laundry bag.
- Use detergents marked “Automatic”.
- Try at least once every six months to clean the washing machine from scale, mold and limescale.
- Use water softeners.
Now you know how to clean the drainage system and how to disconnect the hose - follow our recommendations and do not forget about maintenance.
